Movies can be rewatchable for all kinds of reasons, but the one constant is that they engage; whether that be on an intellectual, emotional or awesome car chase level, there needs to be something that keeps bringing the viewer back.
These films are often different, then, to what’s considered ‘quality’ cinema in the eyes of awards bodies and the like. You wouldn’t watch 12 Years A Slave or There Will Be Blood on repeat, even though they are exceptional pictures.
